Moving on to bigger and brighter vehicles can be emotional, especially if it was your first car or you’ve gone through many milestones together.
A 2013 Autotrader survey said more than 70 percent of drivers feel “very attached” or “somewhat attached” to their cars. More than a quarter said they felt sad when they thought about giving up their vehicles. And about one-third stated they referred to their vehicle as an “old friend.”
Bond with your Car One Last Time
Purge your car about a month before you’re ready to sell it or trade it in. This will help you get used to the idea, and it gives you a way to not only bond with your vehicle but to thoroughly examine it for any imperfections as well. Besides, you won’t have to worry about cleaning it up before you sell it. And most importantly, it will help you break your emotional attachment to your cruiser.
